The year 2022 started off strong in terms of tournaments for polo. First with the youth tournament, then followed by my first ever low goal tournament. With no polo for nearly two years this is a promising start to the season. This was the first really big tournament that I was playing in and I definitely felt nervous, but at the same time really excited and ready to play. Luckily I had my coach and mentor Peter Abisheganaden, Samsuri Ismail (Sam) and my very good friend Aimann on our team. This low goal tournament was such a great learning opportunity and I felt like I was getting better every game. Our first game was against T Satrias who after a swing of momentum went on a huge run to beat us by about 4 goals. Next game we played Las Burritas, we struggled a little during that game, but it was a good eye opener that we needed to up our game. With our 3 goal win over Las Burritas we narrowly made it into the semi finals where we would be facing the La Familia powerhouse. This game was played off the stick with both teams handicapped at -3. This was a pretty low handicapped game but it sure didn't feel like it (or look like it for that matter). It was a game of runs and our team(BOOM CHUKKA LAKA) took an early 5-2 lead only for La Familia to tie the game up at 5-5 in the last chukka. Tied at 5-5 in the semi-final game - it doesn't get any closer - and with 20 seconds left on the clock Aimann scored a game winning goal to bring us into the finals. In the finals we faced TU, a really solid team making quick work of the rest of the field in this tournament. With TU handicapped at 1 goal and our team being -3, we got 2 1/2 goals advantage to start the game. Our team came ready to play scoring two goals in the first half chukka. The teamwork and communication was really paying off, drastically improved from our first game of the league. We continued to play our game the rest of the chukkas and ended up taking a 10 1/2- 2 win over TU. When that bell rang I was hit with the sudden realization that we had just won the low goal league, I was so happy and grateful to share that win with all of my teammates and enjoy all the hard work that payed off. I shared MVP with my good friend Aimann for his brilliant semi final performance and for my 6 goals in the finals.
