My First 6 Goal Tournament

In May 2022 I played in the KL Polo Classic, my first six-goal tournament. I was invited to play on the La Sarita team with Ameer Jumabhoy (1), Jose Alvarez (0), and Agustin Andrada (4). I was the youngest player in the tournament at 15 years old and it was an incredible experience to play polo with some super experienced Argentine players such as Gines Bargallo, Federico Bachmann, and my teammate Agustin Andrada. I learned so much from all of them, but especially Agustin on the importance of taking and controlling your man. I learned to go where the play was going - not where it was - and I learned that most of the work that you do to get a ball is done way before the ball gets near you. This means getting with your defender and making sure you have them in a place where once the ball comes, you already have the man so you can take the line and the ball easily. This tournament was also a really great experience to just give me a taste of some higher goal polo which is much faster than the club chukkas and the low goal that I have played in previously. Lastly, I want to thank La Sarita again for letting me play on their team and being so supportive on and off the pitch.
